    Getting started

    Start from a template

    1

    Find a template

Go to freepik.com/designer and use the search bar or browse by category to find a template that fits your project.

    2

    Open in editor

Click Edit this template to open it directly in Design Editor.

    3

    Customize

Replace text, images, colors, and other elements to make the design your own.

Most template elements are fully editable. Some elements are part of the overall design structure and may have limited editing options.

    Start from scratch

    1

    Open a new project

Click Templates in the top menu, then click New project.

    2

    Set your dimensions

Enter a custom width and height (in pixels or millimeters), or select a preset format such as Instagram Post, A4, or Business Card.

    3

    Start designing

Click Confirm to open the blank canvas and start adding elements.

    Pages

Designs can have multiple pages — useful for presentations, multi-page documents, or creating variations of the same design.

    • Add a page — click + Add page at the bottom of the canvas.
    • Duplicate a page — click the Duplicate page button in the upper toolbar to copy the current page.
    • Reorder pages — drag pages in the page panel to change their order.
    • Delete a page — right-click the page thumbnail and select Delete.

Adding a new template to a multi-page design

You can add a new template to an existing design from the side panel. If the new template has the same dimensions as the current one, you can choose to replace the current page or add it as a new page. If the dimensions differ, you can choose to replace or open it in a new tab.

    Text and fonts

    • Add a text box — click the Text option in the left panel and choose a heading, subheading, or body text style.
    • Edit text — double-click any text element on the canvas to edit it.
    • Change font — select a text element and use the font selector in the top toolbar to browse and apply fonts.
    • Font size, weight, color — all text formatting options are available in the top toolbar when a text element is selected.
Freepik offers a library of free fonts available directly in the editor. You can also browse all fonts at freepik.com/fonts.

    Elements

Elements are design assets you can add to your canvas: icons, illustrations, shapes, stickers, and more.

    • Browse elements — click Elements in the left panel and search or browse by category.
    • Add to canvas — click any element to place it, or drag it to a specific position.
    • Resize and reposition — drag the handles of any element to resize it, or drag the element itself to move it.
    • Change color — select an element and use the color picker in the toolbar to change its color (available for vector elements).
    • Layer order — right-click any element and use Bring forward / Send backward to adjust the stacking order.

    Images

    Insert an image

    • From Freepik — click Images in the left panel to search and add stock images directly from the Freepik library.
    • Upload your own — click Uploads in the left panel and drag and drop an image file, or click to browse your computer.

Edit an image on the canvas

    • Crop — double-click the image to enter crop mode, then drag to reframe it.
    • Replace — right-click the image and select Replace image to swap it out while keeping the same size and position.
    • Filters and adjustments — select the image and click Edit image in the toolbar to access filters, brightness, contrast, and other adjustments.

    Generate images with AI

You can generate AI images directly inside Design Editor and place them on your canvas without leaving the tool.

    1

    Open AI image generation

Click AI Image in the left panel.

    2

    Write your prompt

Describe the image you want to create. Be specific about the subject, style, mood, and colors.

    3

    Generate

Click Generate. The tool will produce several options for you to choose from.

    4

    Add to canvas

Click any result to place it on your design.

Generated images use AI credits. The number of credits consumed depends on your plan. You can download as many AI-generated images as you create — they don't count towards your regular download limit.

    AI Presentation Maker

AI Presentation Maker generates a complete, multi-slide presentation from a text prompt. It creates the structure, content, and layout automatically — you can then edit any slide in Design Editor.

    1

    Open AI Presentation Maker

Go to the presentations section or select AI Presentation from the create options.

    2

    Describe your presentation

Enter a topic or brief description. You can also specify the number of slides, tone, and audience.

    3

    Generate

The AI will create a full presentation with slides, headings, and content.

    4

    Edit in Design Editor

Once generated, every slide opens in Design Editor for full customization.

    AI Writer

AI Writer helps you write and rewrite text content inside your designs — useful for headlines, descriptions, calls to action, and any other copy.

    • Generate copy — select a text element and click AI Writer in the toolbar. Describe what you need and let the AI draft it.
    • Rewrite existing text — select text in a text box, open AI Writer, and choose a tone or style to rewrite it.
    • Adjust length — ask AI Writer to shorten or expand the text to fit your layout.

    Saving your design

Design Editor saves your work automatically as you go. You don't need to manually save — every change is stored in real time.

To rename your design, click the title at the top of the editor and type a new name.

    Downloading your design

    1

    Click Download

Click the Download button in the top-right corner of the editor.

    2

    Choose a format

Select the file format: PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG, or MP4 (for animated designs).

    3

    Set options

Depending on the format, you can choose resolution, quality, or whether to include all pages.
